Reliance Infrastructure Rises 4% After Winning 390 MW Solar Project from NHPC

Reliance Infrastructure’s stock surged 3.6% to touch an intra-day high of ₹272 on the BSE, following an announcement that the Anil Ambani-led company received a Letter of Award (LoA) from NHPC for a 390 MW interstate transmission system-connected solar power project with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Key Highlights of the Project

·         The project will add 700 MWp solar DC capacity and 780 MWhr BESS capacity to Reliance Group’s portfolio.

·         The winning tariff was discovered at ₹3.13/kWh, making it among the most competitive bids in India’s clean energy sector.

·         The tender, floated by NHPC, saw participation from 15 entities, with 14 qualifying for the e-reverse auction.

·         The tender was oversubscribed nearly four times, showing the strong demand for dispatchable renewable energy projects.

Expanding Renewable Energy Portfolio

Reliance Power, another listed entity within the Reliance Group, currently has 2.5 GWp of solar capacity and 2.5 GWhr of BESS capacity. With this new project, the combined portfolio rises to over 3 GWp solar DC capacity and 3.5 GWhr BESS capacity, positioning the group as India’s largest player in the integrated solar + BESS segment.
